Well, today is Friday weigh in day! One week ago today I started out at 236.6 and now I weigh....drum roll please....231.6! That's a grand total of 5.0 pounds in my first week! That is definitely enough to keep me motivated!
I am still in the learning process of this eating clean, but overall it's going well. One thing I did learn is to make sure I get enough complex carbs in. I found myself a couple of days struggling with just feeling hungry. I found the eat-clean diet website forum and saw that others were having the same problem. When one guy mentioned what his food intake was during the day, others told him he wasn't getting in enough complex carbs. I realized that I was mostly consuming proteins, fruits, and veggies. Once I started making sure I added in things like the Ezekial muffins or whole grain tortillas, I could feel the difference. So, if you are doing this as well....the key is definitely balance.
I've added a cute little ticker at the top to keep up with my weight loss. I've set my goal weight to 150. If when I get there I decide I could go a little more, then I'll make my adjustments then. But for now...150 it is.

Congratulations Nancy. That's amazing. 5lbs in one week. Gosh you're beginning to inspire me. Not real sure what clean eating is all about. Is there a web site to get more info? Do you have to buy your stuff from that organic store on Fury's Ferry? I saw your recipe for pecan crusted chicken. I think Charlie would like that.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the great work and look forward to next week......Kathy
The way I view clean eating is basically eating food the way God made...with no chemicals or processing.
ReplyDeleteI have cut out white flour- because it is bleached and "enriched", white sugar-because that is "refined", and table salt. I have switched to whole grains, organic sugar (looking on food labels it should say organic or from cane), and sea salt.
I will make a post about all the changes I have made sometime today hopefully to give you a better idea. But, there is also http://www.eatcleandiet.com/ and there is a "Clean Eating" magazine that you can even find at Walmart. I am finding out what I can get from walmart(to save $$) and get the rest at Earth Fare...that is the one you're talking about on Fury's Ferry.
I'm telling you...once you switch to organic, you don't want to go back! Organic fruits are amazing!
We go to Walmart first, shop for the items we need, make sure we read the labels carefully and then what we don't get there, we go to Earth Fare for. Less thinking on our part really :) hehe And we did notice that a lot of things, brands and all, you can find at both Walmart and Earth Fare. So really, it's just a matter of reading labels.
ReplyDeleteAnd this weeks grocery bill wasn't any higher than our normal grocery bill...but mostly because we're slowly changing out our stuff instead of throwing away money. Just have to be wise at where you spend the money.
Congrats to you Nancy for the weight loss.
